In Papua New Guinea, one of the most dangerous countries in the world for women, lives Moshanty, a trans woman loved by everyone, a guiding light for the trans community in the Southern Pacific, legendary stage and studio artist and much more. Sharing with us the journey of Moshanty’s career, her mom, circle of friends, and her last live performance, the film lets us have this epiphany of why we love Moshanty.

Yönetmen Hakkında / About the Director

Eğitimini tamamladığı Kaliforniya Sanat Enstitüsü’nde Tiyatro ve Film Yönetmenliği programında efsanevi yönetmen Alexander Mackendrick (The Ladykillers, Sweet Smell of Success) ile iki kez Oscar Ödülü’ne lâyık görülmüş belgesel yapımcısı Terry Sanders’la yakından çalışma olanağını elde etti. 2001’de HBO için Haiti’nin başkenti Port-au-Prince’e A.B.D.’den sınırdışı edilen suçlularla ilgili bir belgesel çekmek üzere Haiti’ye gitti. 2017 Ekimi’nde başkent Port Moresby’de bulunan A.B.D. Büyükelçiliği’nin daveti üzerine ziyaret ettiği Papua Yeni Gine’de kısa belgesel çekme amacıyla Hanuabada, Goroka ve Hula köylerindeki trans toplulukları belgeledi. Papua Yeni Gine Üniversitesi Amerikan Merkezi’nin (Port Moresby) yanı sıra aynı üniversitenin Goroka’da bulunan Sosyal ve Yaratıcı Medya Merkezi’inde atölyeler düzenledi.

Tim Wolff received his education from the California Institute of the Arts Directing for Theatre and Film program, studying closely with legendary director Alexander Mackendrick (The Ladykillers, Sweet Smell of Success) and two-time Oscar winning documentarian Terry Sanders. In 2001, Mr. Wolff traveled to Haiti as producer for HBO for a documentary about the criminal U. S. deportees of Port-au-Prince. In October, 2017, Mr. Wolff traveled to Papua/New Guinea at the invitation of the U.S. Embassy in Port Moresby. There he documented the transgender communities in the villages of Hanuabada, Goroka and Hula for the purposes of a short documentary. He conducted workshops at University of Papua/New Guinea, The American Center in Port Moresby and at the Center for Social and Creative Media, University of Papua/New Guinea, Goroka.
